Five years ago, I was persistently tired, chronically stressed, and overall overwhelmed trying to manage my responsibilities as wife and the demands of a busy career. A new diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis began my journey with pain and joint swelling, which completely changed my once physical fit and active lifestyle to that of a channel surfing couch potato. I felt lost and alone. I was unhappy with my body and my life. I felt disconnected from my purpose.
I was letting my RA completely direct my schedule, derail my dreams, and determine my mood. My life had become about managing my RA, mostly internally focused and devoid of inspiration, authentic connection, or purposeful action. I was just surviving.
I was looking for the answers largely outside of myself.
The feeling that I was just surviving and reacting to the ever-changing circumstances of my life did not change until I did the work to change how I viewed myself and my arthritis.
I had to first reconnect with my values, purpose, and identity in Christ. Then I began to the work of finding practical tools to improve my health. I learned to fuel my body with healthy, whole foods and learned evidence-based methods to better manage stress and live a healthier life. My mindset and habits are the key to me living a full, intentional life. Finding coaching allowed me to replace overwhelm and gain greater fulfillment, confidence, and joyful presence in my daily life.
I now firmly believe that nothing is hindering me but myself. I believe that God has allowed RA as part of my journey so that I can clearly see this and be of service to others. That is what drives me. I think all of our paths in life are a bit different, but that tools are universally applicable. I am here to come along side you on your journey.
